What to look out for in a chicken farm in winter

In winter, the temperature in some parts of our country drops to a minimum of 4-5 degrees Celsius. At this time the farm brothers have to face various problems. This is why poultry farms need special care in winter. So in order to manage a profitable farm, the farm brothers need to pay special attention to the following issues.

Chicken habitat: In winter, the indoor environment of the chicken house needs to be fixed according to the age. The age of the chickens to be reared should ensure a conducive environment in the house for the chickens of that age. The bushes around the house should be cut and cleaned so that the daylight falls fully on the roof of the house.

The doors and windows of the house should be closed so that cold air cannot enter the house. The following things need to be ensured to create a conducive environment in the chicken coop.

Litter management: Dry rice husk is best as litter in winter. Husk keeps the chicken warm. Liter material should be spread 5-10 cm thick in the brommer house. If the chickens are kept on the floor, the litter thickness for large chickens should not be less than 4 inches.

Litter should be clean and pollution free. If the liter gets wet due to water for any reason, dry liter should be spread in that place instead of wet liter. The litter should not be too dry and dusty.

Farm temperature: The normal temperature in a chicken house is 65-75 degrees Fahrenheit. However, the initial temperature required for a bronzer house is 23-35 degrees Celsius. When the ambient temperature drops too much, the number of electric bulbs in the brooder needs to be increased. If the shed of the house is made of tin, the ceiling should be given with hardboard or similar material.

To keep the house warm, straw should be spread on the tin or roof. The house should have ventilation system. In order to keep the baby warm evenly during the brooming period, a brommer hardboard with three 100 watt bulbs for 500 children should be installed.

Lighting of the farm: Light should be given to the chicken house in such a way that it spreads evenly in the house. The first three days of the brooming period need to have uninterrupted lighting.

Density of children per sq.m. After the age of 14 days, keeping the room temperature right, the space should be increased accordingly so that the child can roam in the whole house.

Although the body temperature of the laying hen or layer cools the room temperature a bit, it is not good for producing more eggs. Therefore, the density of chickens in the house will depend on the type of house, equipment used, age of the chickens, breed and rearing methods, not the temperature of the environment.
